Services

Preventive

Our practice offers comprehensive oral exams and regular cleanings so our team of dental professionals can maintain your dental health, and prevent dental problems before they even start. Dr. Schrader can provide you and your family with the following preventive care services.

Dental Sealants

A dental sealant is a durable, clear resin film Dr. Schrader applies to the most vulnerable chewing surfaces of your teeth. This prevents bacterial plaque and the resulting acids from penetrating the teeth enamel and causing decay.

We usually recommend sealants for children with newly erupted permanent teeth, but sealants can protect the teeth of teenagers and adults, too.

Migraine Relief

You may be one of 23 million people who suffer from severe headaches and migraines. Although there are many reasons people have migraines, research indicates the pain may be caused by overworked jaw muscles. In recent studies, researchers discovered patients who clenched or ground their teeth unconsciously while they slept were more likely to suffer headaches and migraines caused by sore or tender jaw muscles.

Dr. Schrader can provide migraine relief with the NTI-TSS device. This clear little mouthpiece is worn on your front teeth and keeps your back molars from touching. This actually stops unconscious clenching and grinding. The NTI-TSS device also can correct problems caused by temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), a condition occurring when the hinge connecting your lower and upper jaws isn’t functioning properly.

If you suffer from severe migraines or headaches and haven’t been able to find relief, talk to Dr. Schrader about how the NTI-TSS device may be able to help you.

Bite Guards

While your teeth and jaws are designed to withstand these normal activities, excessive clenching and grinding can cause cracks and other damage to your teeth.  Therefore, ur practice offers the bite guard, a mouthpiece worn to protect your teeth while you sleep, and prevent unconscious clenching and grinding.

If Dr. Schrader notices cracks and other wear on your teeth during your initial exam or regular check-up, he may recommend the bite guard and discuss its benefits during your appointment.

Digital X-Rays

Another one of the ways we prevent problems is by using safe, state-of-the-art technology, such as computerized dental radiography (CDR), to obtain digital x-ray images of your mouth.
Digital images obtained by CDR are as accurate as conventional x-rays, but allow us to see things more quickly and comprehensively. Unlike regular x-rays, digital x-rays require 90% less radiation. Most importantly, the CDR sensors we place in your mouth to obtain the images have rounded edges and are more comfortable.

DIAGNOdent™

In addition to x-rays, we also use the DIAGNOdent™ dental laser to safely and effectively check for cavities and other microscopic changes on the surface of your teeth.

The DIAGNOdent uses a light source we shine over your teeth to see if there is anything unusual about the tooth surface, such as a microscopic cavity. Dr. Schrader can even check for decay under crowns. If there is a problem, this causes a different type of light to be bounced back to the instrument. This light is transferred into an audible sound, which helps us determine the treatment you need.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatments can replace lost minerals in your tooth enamel and coat your teeth, blocking cavities and stopping sensitivity. Fluoride treatments can stop bleeding gums and inhibit the progress of gum disease. If you wear dentures or partial dentures, fluoride treatments prevent bad breath and ease the irritation these devices cause to your gums. For patients with crowns, bridges or dental implants, these treatments block plaque formulation and help protect the devices from damage or failure. If you wear braces, fluoride treatments help control the decalcification of teeth.

Therefore, our hygiene team provides beneficial fluoride treatments after every regular cleaning. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of fluoride, you can talk to one of our hygienists during your appointment.

Aesthetics

You don’t have to be born with great teeth to have a beautiful smile. Dr. Schrader has the extensive skills, training and experience to enhance the appearance of your smile with the following aesthetic dentistry services.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers, a thin fingernail shaped layer of porcelain applied to the surface of your teeth, is another way to dramatically enhance your smile. Veneers can change the size, shape and color of your teeth.

Dr. Schrader may suggest veneers to make your teeth appear more even, straighten slightly crooked teeth, or cover tough, bleach-resistant stains. Porcelain veneers are  completely natural looking, durable, and stain resistant when you have good dental hygiene and schedule regular check-ups. Once applied, you can enjoy a great looking smile for many years.

Metal and Mercury Free Porcelain Tooth Restoration

For years, dentists used metal and mercury in fillings and crowns. At the time, these materials were the safest, most durable to repair and restore your teeth. Unfortunately, metal fillings have been known to break and crack over time, leaking dangerous mercury into the sensitive tissue in your mouth.

Fortunately, Dr. Schrader can replace this older dentistry with metal/mercury-free, porcelain restorations. Not only is porcelain safe and long lasting, but it mimics the appearance of your natural teeth so well the restorations are indistinguishable in your mouth.

With our porcelain restorations, we use CEREC, a CAD/CAM design technology, to create very detailed, highly accurate crowns and fillings for your teeth. We can mill these in our practice and place them in your mouth in a single appointment.

If you have older metal fillings in your mouth, Dr. Schrader strongly recommends you schedule an appointment to replace the metal with CEREC-designed porcelain restorations.

Orthodontics with Invisalign

If you wish you could straighten your teeth without enduring the time, expense and inconvenience of wearing braces, we might have a solution for you. Dr. Scrader offers Invisalign, a comfortable and effective product uses a series of invisible aligners. As you consecutively wear the aligners over a few weeks, your teeth will be moved to appear straighter. Created with 3-D computer imaging technology, the Invisalign aligners are customized to fit your teeth, and often no one will realize you’re wearing them.

Teeth Whitening with Brite Smile

Whitening is one of the easiest and most effective ways to enhance the appearance of your smile. While there are many whitening products on the market, Dr. Schrader and our dental team have found very few that offer the long lasting results Brite Smile does.

Our dental team uses Brite Smile to whiten your smile in a single, one hour appointment. If you don’t want to wait around in our office, we also offer at-home bleaching trays. These clear trays are customized to your mouth, and allow you to whiten your teeth at your convenience.

Since each smile is unique, Dr. Schrader will need to examine your mouth before recommending a specific whitening method. You can trust we’ll find the best way to whiten your smile.

Restorative

Restoring teeth damaged by trauma, decay or disease to their ideal shape and function is one of the most important procedures Dr. Schrader and our team can perform for you and your family. We offer a variety of restorative services to exceed your smile goals.

Composite (White Fillings)

When you have a cavity or a chip in your tooth, Dr. Schrader can repair the damage with composite resin. We use this sturdy, long-lasting material instead of metal, which can break and crack over time, to fill cavities and repair teeth. We also use composite resin becauseclosely matches the appearance of your teeth. In Dr. Schrader’s skilled hands, a composite blends in with your surrounding teeth so you won’t be able to tell which tooth was damaged.

Dentures

When you’re missing an entire upper set, lower set, or both sets of teeth, Dr. Schrader can fit you with comfortable, natural looking dentures. Dentures can restore your self-esteem, improve your ability to speak, eat and do other activities, and maintain the structure of your face, giving you a younger appearance.

Like removable bridges, Dr. Schrader recommends denture-wearers replace their dentures every three years. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Schrader to discuss the benefits of dentures.

Crowns and Bridges

Nobody’s teeth are perfect. Your natural teeth may be crooked, crowded, or spaced unevenly. Even everyday use may have your teeth worn down, broken or discolored. Dr. Schrader can correct all of these problems with crowns and bridges.

A crown is a tooth-shaped restoration completely covering the natural tooth just below the gum line. Dr. Schrader may recommend crowns if you have a worn tooth, cracks or fractures in the tooth enamel, or other reasons to improve the appearance of a tooth. Our practice uses CEREC, a CAD/CAM design technology, to create very detailed and highly accurate crowns for your teeth. We can then mill these in our practice and place them in a single appointment.

If you’re missing more than one tooth, Dr. Schrader may recommend a fixed bridge, a set of composite teeth to replace missing natural teeth. To apply this kind of bridge, Dr. Schrader places support crowns on healthy teeth on each side of the missing teeth and  anchors the bridge to those teeth resulting in a smile without gaps.

Removable Bridges

While your teeth are strong, it’s very easy to lose them. Trauma, late stage gum disease, or other problems can lead to significant gaps in your bite. Thankfully, Dr. Schrader can replace these missing teeth with a removable bridge, or partial denture.

Dr. Schrader attaches this bridge to existing teeth to keep your bite aligned and prevent your remaining teeth from shifting out of position. You can remove the bridge at night to clean and care for it.

If you have an existing removable bridge, Dr. Schrader recommends these devices be replaced with new bridges every three years.  We recommend you schedule an appointment with Dr. Schrader to discuss how removable bridges can benefit your gapped smile.

Dental Implants

If you wear removable bridges or dentures, you may miss the way your natural teeth felt and looked. You may also worry about your removable prosthetic coming loose or falling out when you talk, eat, smile or laugh. Thankfully, you don’t have to live with the discomforts of dentures. Dr. Schrader has extensive training and experience with dental implants, an alternative to removable bridges and dentures.

With dental implants, Dr. Schrader places a small titanium screw in your jawbone. This acts like tooth roots to anchor a prosthetic in your mouth. With his extensive training and experience with implants, Dr. Schrader can apply three types of implants in your mouth.

  • A single tooth dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a crown, shaped to look like the original tooth.
  • An implant supported bridge supports a bridge designed to look like one or more missing teeth.
  • An implant supported denture holds natural looking dentures permanently in place in your mouth.

In most procedures, the implant is placed during one appointment and after it heals, the crown, bridge or denture is applied. Since everyone is different, Dr. Schrader will need to evaluate your dental health to determine if an implant is right for you.
